The difficulty of the monastic. There are countless difficulties, dangerous challenges due to the five desires and external circumstances that are always lurking, waiting for us to be ordained. If a moment of neglect, lack of practice, they will attack and harm us. But there is also a consolation that if we have good intentions when we are ordained, this is the motivation for us to overcome all. Living in a world full of pollution, we are always busy running after our aspirations, desires for fame and fortune, forever immersed in the vicious cycle of suffering, sadness and fear, etc. Then one day, In a rare moment of inner stillness - a moment of mindfulness and awareness, we suddenly realize that: So the beauty is the burying box of the genius. Wealth is the grave of the nobles. In the Lotus Sutra, the Buddha said: "Three realms are not safe, they are like fire", that is, the three realms are not safe, just like a house of fire. When we deeply appreciate this teaching, we feel bored, wanting to get away from those sufferings. Like a traveler who returns to his homeland, to the feet of the Buddha, we leave home, leave home, live without family. Vow to bring all my mind and dedication to living beings to make up for mistakes, useless days; pay off all the debt of grace that we have borrowed from life. We thought that we would fulfill that wish completely and completely, but in reality the path to study Buddhism is also very arduous. The Buddha himself also said: "It is difficult to be happy to leave home". First, the hardest thing for us is to choose for ourselves an environment, a bright teacher and a Sangha who share the same ideals, oriented towards the holy life. The suitable environment for monastics is not a beautiful natural forest or mountain, or full of material facilities, but an environment like that described in the Sutra of the Horned Forest (Central Sutra), relatively meeting favorable conditions leading to advancement and success in terms of spiritual practice. And a congregation that we can trust without a shadow of a doubt, is a congregation consisting of all six elements, also known as six harmony, that is: The harmony of accommodation (harmony of the body), harmony in speech (agreement in speech and in avoidance), harmony in thought (in harmony and approval), harmony in gender (in harmony with fellow practitioners), harmony in knowledge (in view of reconciliation) , the harmony of the four things (benefit and harmony). To find the ideal environment, many people have worked in vain. Therefore, we need to know how to live according to reality, try to put all our heart into building the existing assembly, keep our mind always relaxed to firmly walk on the path of supreme peace and tranquility that we have chosen. Many respects have said that: compared with the old monks, today's monastics have much more favorable conditions, but if they are not skillful in cultivation, it will also be difficult and encounter obstacles equally. Favorable in many aspects, the first is to live in peace, the country no longer has to fight and fight. The second is to be offered and fully provided by the householders for their needs (food, clothing, shelter, illness), and temples are getting more and more spacious. Thirdly, there are many Buddhist schools and classes, the practice of practice as well as the means of audio-visual and Buddhist study are diverse and rich. The ancients studied little but practiced much: Life was simple, Vegetable porridge meal, peaceful practice, no profit, mind is always happy. How are we today? With a forest of scriptures and dharmas, what are the basic things to water and nurture the bodhi mind of a beginner? Some dignified people in previous decades found it difficult and once exclaimed: The scriptures are strangely confused Like a dark night without walls and depths. Therefore, the teacher plays a very important role. The Patriarch once taught: "As a monk, one must choose a teacher for the right way to stay for a long time, not to change or leave the teacher early...". But unfortunately, we are not wise enough to know which guru to choose. According to the writer, we must first have an understanding of the teachings of the Buddha, realize that any teacher who lives and acts according to the Buddha's teachings in a relative way and has a predestined relationship to receive us, we should follow him. . Another difficulty for us monastics is that we have to face the emotional conditions, the habits, emotions or emotional states when we are still at home revolt. That is clearly stated by the Buddha in the Catuma Sutra: Those who go to the sea have four fears, which are fear of waves, crocodiles, whirlpools, and bad fish. Likewise, monastics have four things to face: anger, gluttony, five desires, and beauty of the opposite sex. Wrath is the gross reaction of the repressed mind in a state of anger to the impact of undesirable actions or imperfect circumstances. Typically in daily life, if we are taught or advised by our accomplice, whether right or wrong, it also makes us frustrated because of being touched by our pride (ego); or when we encounter unpalatable foods, or in situations that are against our will, we can also get angry. Incredibly toxic fury. If we can't control it, it will be harmful to us because: "One thought, anger, and all obstacles open", or there is a Hungarian proverb: "one anger is equivalent to 100 demons. evil". That's how great the effect of anger is. We have to be careful and careful with it. Many people have ordained but do not worry about studying, but only know how to eat and drink, take care of maintaining this temporary false body of theirs, thinking little of others. So when someone interferes or gives advice on eating and drinking, this person becomes angry and dissatisfied, the path of practice is always stagnant, it is difficult to develop spiritually, and it is easy to fall into mistakes when having to eat and drink. live with the community. So in the sutras, the Buddha often taught his disciples: "must know moderation in eating". A bird kept in a cage for a long time, living too dependent on food and water provided by the breeder, when released, they never fly to the high and wide sky, live a life of cranes in the clouds but just hang around the cage, not can quit. In the same way, a person who has left home to live without family is a voluntary person, who always values a life of liberation in poverty over bondage in wealth, dreams of dreams all his life. wonderful dreamers, always scorning all that the world appreciates, and yet to be attached to eating and drinking is such a shame, after all, it is like that bird that never ends its life. Enjoy the taste of freedom to fly in the vast sky. And one of the next difficulties that monastics face is the five sexes. The five desires here are talent, form, name, real, and lobe. It has always dominated our lives. People always follow and immerse in it, and take it as their main need and joy to cultivate their lives. But they didn't expect that it was just a temporary factor: So many people were buried in the abyss of sex without finding a way out. Like moths plunging into the amusements of the world, the result is a careless and tasteless death. The monastic must be different from the people of the world, "the mind is heterogeneous", that is, they must be enlightened about the truth of life and must always see that all conditioned dharmas are like illusions, bubbles, dew, as well as dew. lightning... If you meditate regularly like that, it's easy to stay away from the five senses. This is also confirmed by the Buddha in the Sutta of the Log. When a log is facing the sea, down to the sea, If you want to enter the sea, you must cross the whirlpool. In the same way, a monastic who wants to enter Nirvana must abstain from the five desires. Therefore, in order to progress on the path of karma, to attain complete liberation, we must be wary of the five desires. The last and also the biggest difficulty faced by monastics is the opposite sex (male, female). As we know, the reason to receive this body of five aggregates is derived from sex, which means that if we like women, we will be born as a man. From childhood until we understand the word "love", our ego is carefully polished, cherished and protected, thinking that there is no split in us, but when we meet The girl: The scent of heaven and the moon was intoxicated with flowers. Tay Thi lost her soul, and Hang Nga was startled. Then that ego was split in two very quickly and gently. For cultivators like us, the power of a woman's eyes, lips, or charming smile is terrifying. The strong stronghold of the precepts, one of the protective and protective covers for the cultivator, if not strictly observed, it will still be destroyed by it. That's why someone said: "If there is no money and women in this world, no one will go to hell". Saying that is not to demean women, but only to emphasize the danger of lust for monastic men, because lust is one of the most noticed objects. For nuns, the opposite is true. Love, suffering, joy, emotion, recovery... these emotional chains rush to torment and torture our hearts. In the quality of Sac (Sutra on Sangha), the Buddha taught: “Monks, I do not see any other form that pervades and dominates the mind of a man as the form of a woman. Monks, a woman's form invades and dominates a man's mind..." In short, there are countless difficulties and dangerous trials due to the five senses and external circumstances that are always lurking, waiting for someone to emerge. our family. If a moment of neglect, lack of practice, they will attack and harm us. But there is also a consolation that if we have a good heart when we give rise to ordination, this is the motivation for us to overcome all. We ordained not because of debt, not because of lack of food, not because of heartbreak, ... so each of us must always remind ourselves, mold that initial aspiration to avoid difficulties. that towel. Each of us must try to remember that: Life has extinguished the heart's fire. What's the point of squeezing into the rosebush place? It's okay to have or anything If it's just gone through, then it's fine. Hopefully, everyone will overcome all challenges to reach enlightenment together. What is ordination and what is it for? Understanding the two words ordained. A monastic is a person who walks a high and wide path, a person who lives for everyone, a person who enters the sacrifice without having his own needs. Ordaining literally means getting out of the house. But fully, renunciation has three main meanings: Leaving the worldly family: showing that person determined to throw away his shirt, give up his feelings and love for his relatives and relatives, accept to leave and leave home. go out to seek the way, the truth, the way of truth, or to serve. Out of afflictions: through the process of practice, this person has subdued all afflictions: greed, anger, delusion, selfishness, jealousy, hatred, jealousy, tricks, frauds, tricks, etc. all these bad habits, which the practitioner needs to subdue. Out of the Three Realms: And when there is an end to all afflictions beyond the control and bondage of the three realms: the sensual world, the form world, and the formless wo...
